Public-private partnership (PPP) is a form of cooperation between public and private entities, the aim of which is the realization of public tasks. Both sides draw benefits from the partnership. Public entities realize social objectives, whereas private entities realize commerce-related objectives while gaining access to top business strategies.
According to article 3 of the Public-Private Partnership Act of the 19th of December 2008 (Polish Journal of Laws 2009, Nr. 19, item 100), the task of promoting and monitoring public-private partnerships in Poland falls within the responsibilities of the Minister of Economy. As part of fulfilling this task, the Ministry has created the “Public-Private Partnership Projects Database”, which will contain information concerning both planned and implemented PPP projects, and will systematize such information.
Public entities can shape the Database’s content – together with the Database’s administrator – by submitting information concerning both planned projects and those already underway.
As the EXPO 2010 world exhibition will be held this year in Shanghai, it is foreseen that the PPP Projects Database will be translated into both English and Chinese, and a presentation of the Database will be held in during the Shanghai EXPO, with the most interesting projects getting additional attention during the accompanying events.
We sincerely invite all public and private entities to participate in creating and developing the PPP Projects Database.
The Public Private Partnership (PPP) Projects Database was created as part of the Minister of Economy’s statutory obligation to monitor and promote public-private partnerships.
The PPP Projects Database is to accumulate information concerning PPP and make it accessible to the public, at the same time popularizing partnerships between the private and public sectors.
The PPP Projects Database is currently under construction. It will provide information concerning public-private partnerships in a straightforward and user-friendly way, including project summaries, reports and detailed information concerning any given project.
The PPP Projects Database will contain information concerning planned, ongoing, and completed projects.
The PPP Projects Database will be expanded in the future to include publications outlining the functioning of PPP in Poland and abroad, as well as up to date information about training courses, conferences and other relevant events.
We invite both public and private entities to participate in the development of the PPP Projects Database.
Companies and institutions can submit not only project presentations, but also information concerning PPP-related undertakings, training courses, and steps taken to promote PPP in a given region. All PPP-related information will be added to the Database.
Any questions or suggestions concerning the Database can be sent to the Database’s administrator (bazappp@mg.gov.pl).
